GUIDELINES FOR ISSUANCE OF LETTER OF GOOD STANDING

Attorneys-at-Law who wish to obtain a Letter of Good Standing from the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka are kindly requested to follow the procedure below

Required Documents

1. Formal Request Letter

Addressed to the Registrar of the Supreme Court.
Clearly state the purpose for which the Letter of Good Standing is required (e.g., foreign bar registration, employment, academic application, etc.).
The request must also include: ( Full Name of the Attorney-at-Law / Enrolment Number / Date of Taking Oath as an Attorney-at-Law )

2. Affidavit

A sworn affidavit stating that the applicant is in active legal practice and has no disciplinary proceedings pending before the Bar Association or the Supreme Court.

3. Copy of the Certificate of Enrolment (if available)

4. GovPay Payment Receipt

A fee of Rs. 1,000.00 must be paid via GovPay.
A copy of the payment receipt must be submitted along with the application. Download here

All documents must be submitted physically to the Supreme Court Registry or scanned and emailed to: 📧 scurgentmatters@sltnet.lk

Important Notes:

Letters will be issued only after the Registry completes all necessary verifications..
Please allow at least 3–5 working days for processing.
